PSHE

At The Meadow, we aim to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. At The Meadow Primary, personal, social, and health education (PSHE) enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of a society.

It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

RSE

Relationships Education is compulsory in all primary schools in England.

Thie policy below has been written in accordance with DfE Relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education statutory guidance on relationships education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education 2021.

As a Primary School, we are not required to provide sex education but we do need to teach the elements of sex education contained in the science curriculum.

In teaching RSE, we must have regard to guidance issued by the Secretary of State as outlined under Section 80A of the Education Act 2002 and section 403 of the Education Act 1996.

The PSHE Association states, ‘Teaching about puberty before children experience it is essential to ensure that pupils’ physical, emotional and learning needs are met and that they have the correct information about how to take care of their bodies and keep themselves safe.’

At The Meadow, we teach RSE as set out in our policy below.
